Stories from us!
As an alternative to school-based performances, the troupe is seeking student-generated videos on social-emotional learning (SEL) topics relevant to teens’ lives. Students, parents, teachers, and counselors can access the stories, articles, & videos online at home and at school via MWAH!’s Web site and social media accounts.

Staying True To Yourself!
This past June 17 Bryce Dershem began delivering his high school valedictorian speech before a packed audience, including his nearly 500 classmates, faculty members, and about 2,000 guests at Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees, New Jersey.
He had wanted the speech to be personal – a positive message of ‘just believing in yourself, knowing that you’re enough, and embracing your identity.’
He said the first few drafts were ‘trash, absolutely trash.’ But he kept writing.
He wanted to connect with others who, like him, had been struggling. He wanted his message to be personal.
When he began by mentioning his coming out as a freshman, his principal walked onto the stage, grabbed the handwritten speech, and crumpled it in plain view of Bryce and the audience.
An Act of Kindness in a Pouring Rain
A man pulls up to the hardware store and watched this take place right in front of him. He takes a picture of this kindness and wanted to share. This is his account of what he saw…
Waffles Change A Life!
Timothy Harrison, 18, opted to work his usual 7:00am - 3:00pm shift as a server at the Center Point, Alabama Waffle House, skipping his Woodlawn High School graduation ceremony in early June 2021 that was to begin at 3:00 p.m.
He’d had no contact with his father, and his mom couldn’t get the day off from her job at a day care center. He had no ride for the ceremonies at the graduation venue in nearby Birmingham, no tickets, no suitable clothing, and no-one to offer him any other kind of help.
No-one, that is, except his Waffle House store manager, Cedric Hampton, and other employees, all of whom immediately went to bat for Timothy that morning with only hours to spare
Making Mental Health A Priority
The French Open Tennis Tournament is one of the tennis world’s four Grand Slam tournaments.
Naomi Osaka, who is 23 and currently the No. 2-ranked female tennis player in the world, has won four Grand Slams in her young tennis career.
After she was fined $15,000 for refusing to speak to reporters after her first round victory in France at the end of May 2021, Naomi chose to withdraw from the tournament entirely.
She then told of having had “long bouts of depression” since she defeated Serena Williams in the 2018 U.S. Open and intense anxiety when trying to deal with reporters’ questions.
The Mamba Mentality
Kobe Bryant is regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, having won five NBA championships, was an 18-time All-Star, and was a two-time NBA Finals MVP, having spent his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers. At the age of 41, he and his daughter, Gianna, and seven others died on January 26, 2020 in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. Throughout his lifetime, Kobe found ways of dealing with a variety of emotions we all face, such as anxiety, nervousness, and fear.
